This DEWALT table saw has a lot going for it. Do you need a saw that you can toss in the bed of your truck and take to the job site every day? The DW745 is rugged enough to stand up to rough handling yet will still cut accurately day in and day out. At 45 pounds, it’s light enough to easily move around, but not too light to provide a steady cutting platform.
Are you a hobbyist but don’t have the room for or can’t afford a cabinet table saw? This saw is small and light enough to easily move around in whatever shop space you have and will cut with the same precision of a cabinet saw costing five times as much.

What do you get for your money?
- 15 amp, high torque motor, allowing you to easily cut hardwoods or pressure treated woods.
- 16 inches of rip to easily cut larger trim materials and shelving
- Rack and pinion fence rails, making adjustments accurate, smooth, and easy
- High quality 10 inch, 24 tooth carbide blade, great for most general applications
- Miter gauge to accurately measure your miter cuts, from 0 to 45 degrees
- Dust port for 2-1/2″ vacuum hook up
- 3 year limited warranty, 1 year service contract, and 90 day money back guarantee
Think about that last one for a second. No company is going to offer that kind of warranty if they expect a lot of people are going to need to use it. DEWALT is telling you right up front, “The DW745 table saw is one reliable saw.” Reliability is certainly important if you plan to use this saw day in and day out.
The 745 gets high marks from users for the accuracy and ease of adjustment of its fence. The front and back rails move together on a rack-and-pinion system, so the fence stays still and square while the rails move. It takes a little bit of dialing in, but once set, it stays where you put it. You won’t find it slipping out of adjustment after extended use.
Another plus, as previously mentioned, is its portability. It has a “roll cage” base with rubber feet to protect finished surfaces when you put it down. It’s light enough to be carried one-handed, like a suitcase, or with both hands, like a tray. You’ll appreciate the fact that the DW745 is small enough and light enough so that you won’t smack the walls when you have to carry it up and down tight staircases.
Even though it’s small, it has plenty of power for most jobs. It will rip 2x all day long. That power, however, comes with a price. Startup is abrupt and it is noisy for a saw of its size. Hearing protection is recommended – but you should probably protect your ears no matter what kind of power tools you’re using.
As good as the DEWALT DW745 table saw is, it isn’t all things to all people. If you are a serious woodworker, this may not be the saw for you. It can’t run a dado blade. Some users have reported that in cutting thicker stock, or wood with a lot of stress inside it, it has a tendency to bog down, leading to kickback. A number of users found the miter gauge flimsy and cheaply made.
That said, if you’re a contractor who needs a reliable, powerful, portable saw for the job site or are a serious hobbyist with a limited budget and limited space the DW745 provides a lot of bang for the buck.
It’s easy to set up and use. It’s precise, it’s reliable, it’s great for the job-site. Whether you are a contractor or a hobbyist, you really can’t go wrong with a DEWALT DW745.
